Jamison Carpenter

Jamison was born and raised in Charlotte and attended South Mecklenburg High School and later went on to graduate from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He proceeded to pursue a Master of Accounting degree from UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School which he obtained in 2012. Following his time in Chapel Hill, Jamison spent the next ten years working for PricewaterhouseCoopers, EY, and BDO where he specialized in tax compliance and consulting for corporations, partnerships, and high-net-worth individuals.

After working in a stressful, high-intensity work environment for many years, Jamison struggled with substance use disorder and began his own recovery journey in December 2021. In January of 2023, Jamison made the decision to leave his corporate tax job with BDO and pursue opportunities working in the recovery field in order to help make an impact in the lives of others struggling with addiction and mental health disorders.

Jamison obtained his certification as a NC Peer Support Specialist and worked as a Recovery Connector at a local treatment center prior to co-founding The Recovery Place, a sober living home in Charlotte. Jamison currently serves as the Director of The Recovery Place where he is responsible for the overall operations of the sober living program and house. He is also a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor Intern and is in the application process to obtain a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a focus in addiction treatment.

In his spare time, Jamison likes to engage with puzzles, cheer on the Tar Heels, travel within the US and abroad, and play with dog, Walter.
